Yayasan Sekolah Kristen Indonesia – Great School

International Youth Gathering 2025

Yayasan Sekolah Kristen Indonesia (YSKI) has once again marked a new chapter in its long-standing partnership with Woodlands Ring Secondary School (WRSS) in Singapore through their Annual International Youth Gathering. This year’s event, held from July 23 to 27, 2025, saw students participating in a cultural exchange program, continuing a cherished tradition and expanding it with the special participation of Satrinonthaburi School from Thailand.

The core of the program’s activities took place on July 24 and 25 at WRSS. There, YSKI students had the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the academic and social atmosphere of their partner school. They attended classes, experiencing the curriculum firsthand and interacting with new friends from Singapore and Thailand. Beyond the classroom, they also joined co-curricular activities (CCA), where they explored their passions and talents outside formal lessons—enriching their experience in a holistic way.

A highlight of the exchange was when the students showcased their rich cultural heritage. YSKI’s student representatives proudly presented a captivating dance entitled “One Rhythm of the Archipelago.” This dance portrays Indonesia’s journey as a great nation, rich in culture. From west to east, every region boasts unique characteristics in movement, color, and rhythm. Yet, it’s precisely within these differences that beauty emerges. This performance was more than entertainment; it served as a bridge to introduce and foster appreciation for different traditions among all participants.

Outside of the school environment, the students enjoyed sightseeing and exploring Singapore’s attractions. They visited famous places such as Bugis Junction, Orchard Road, kampong glam, Mustafa Center, Merlion Park, and Chinatown. They also took rides on the MRT, SkyTrain, and Monorail. The trip became even more memorable when the students visited Universal Studios on Saturday, July 26, where they enjoyed an adrenaline-filled experience. They explored various incredible rides and thrilling attractions, creating unforgettable memories. These moments outside the classroom were instrumental in forging strong bonds of friendship.

Overall, the exchange program achieved its goals brilliantly. The students returned home equipped with new knowledge, a deeper understanding of other cultures, and, most importantly, friendships that transcend national borders. The continuation of the YSKI and WRSS partnership is a testament to their commitment to shaping a younger generation that is not only academically intelligent but also globally aware and mutually respectful.
